Saint Francis Parish Corpus Christi Celebration - 2014

Knights from St. Francis of Assisi Council No. 14361 escort the Blessed Sacrament in procession from the Church to the three lanchon Corpus locations during the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), June 22, 2014.

The noble canopy (baldachin) was purchased by the council after member Knights raised awareness on the lack of a proper cover for the Blessed Sacrament. A project was soon started to acquire the noble canopy for Holy Thursday and Corpus Christi celebrations.

In 2010, the council was able to have a baldachin fabricated.

The canopy was first used during the 2010 Holy Thursday Mass.

4th Degree Knights from the council, in full regalia, escorted the Blessed Sacrament to the Monumento (the repository).

David Duenas spearheaded the campaign for the canopy.

Susan Maria Evans from Australia created the canopy for the Knights of Columbus.

The processional canopy is made of white/gold Church fabric with gold fabric side panels trimmed in British red/gold. The roof is made from red Church fabric. The front of the canopy features a beautiful embroidery of the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei).
